Last weekend my boyfriend and I went down to Riverside for his brother’s and niece’s birthdays. We wanted to get an early start and beat the traffic, so we packed the car and jumped in with our pj’s still on. Little did I know that I left my entire overnight bag on the ironing bored back in Hollywood. Great! Now I’m 60 miles from home with bags of dirty laundry and my pj’s. Now what?
Well in all honesty I panicked for 5 minutes. I guess i’ll just have to go shopping!
Decided to go to Marshalls. I figured the least inexpensive outfit would be a dress with a cardigan. Luckily I found a black high-low dress for $16.00 and a extra long black and gray cardigan for $10.00.
Next off was the makeup department. Yes, I forgot that too! This isn’t the first time that I forgot my makeup bag. You don’t have to go out and by every piece of makeup. And don’t go running to the Nordstrom makeup counter either. Just by the essentials like: mascara, a neutral eye shadow, concealer/foundation, and blush or a bronzer with a pink undertone. Remember, it’s just for one day and you can return what you don’t like the next day.
Work with what you have. I still had my old concealer/ foundation in my bag that I thought was all out, but in times of desperation, I found that there was just enough left! (top). I purchased bronzer that has a pink undertone in it that I used as a blush (bottom). I didn’t buy any brushes. Just use what comes with the makeup, or be creative and use your fingers, cotton pads or q-tips.
As embarrassing as this picture is, I wanted to show you how crazy I looked shopping that morning. I had to wear dirty clothes from the laundry that we brought down to wash that weekend. Yeah, it was that bad! LOL. I also purchased a flat iron from Marshalls for $25.00. (They also have Chi irons and products for half the price.)
All in all, my outfit came together pretty good for the last minute. So the next time that you forget your suitcase, don’t panic. Figure out what you have to work with and then add to it.
